The Story
I've spent my career at the intersection of two disciplines that too often live separately: the craft of professional cooking and the science of nutrition.
I trained as a chef in the classical tradition and went on to earn my Certified Executive Chef designation. But the longer I worked with food, the more interested I became in what happens beyond the plate — how what we eat affects the body, how nutritional needs change across different stages of life, and how good food can support health without sacrificing pleasure.
And somewhere along the way, the philosophy behind Vitamin H became very simple:
Every bite has a job.
Sometimes that job is to nourish. Sometimes it is to build, protect, restore, or fuel. Sometimes it is to bring people together, preserve a memory, celebrate something extraordinary, or simply taste spectacular.
That means understanding not only technique, ingredients, and nutrition, but the person at the table. How they live. What they need. What they enjoy. What they're trying to change — and what they never want to give up.
My graduate training in clinical psychology has shaped that perspective, too. Food choices don't happen in a vacuum. How we eat is influenced by behavior, experience, environment, memory, identity, and pleasure.
Because food is never just chemistry. It is also culture, memory, pleasure, identity, and connection.
That understanding shapes everything I do — from private dining and culinary nutrition to teaching someone how to cook, stocking a kitchen, or designing food around a particular moment in a person's life.
I believe the best food can be both intelligent and beautiful. Science and pleasure belong at the same table.
